Description

The Cusco LSD limited slip differentials enhance a vehicle’s traction by minimizing individual wheel spin. These differentials detect when a wheel loses grip and transfer power to the wheel with the most traction, providing the driver with better control, especially during high-speed cornering. The Type MZ model offers high initial torque and smooth, linear engagement. It features cone springs that create activation pressure opposing the direction of the initial torque. Designed for driveline setups requiring higher initial torque for activation, the Type MZ is ideal for high-horsepower vehicles demanding maximum traction.

Vehicle Fitment:
2023+ Toyota GR Corolla
(GZEA14 G16E-GTS)

Benefits:
Initial Torque Pre-Load: 8-10kg.m
Designed where the activation pressure opposes the direction of the initial torque with the utilization of cone springs.
For driveline setups that require higher initial Torque setting for activation.
Suited for high horse-powered vehicles that requires maximum traction

Comparing 1-Way vs. 1.5-Way Diffs:
One-way LSD: A 1-way limited slip differential (LSD) locks only during acceleration, using ramp clutches to provide traction in one direction, making it suitable for front-wheel drive and AWD front axles. It improves lap times, responds well to delicate pedal control, and remains inactive during deceleration, helping reduce understeer when cornering off the throttle.

1.5-way LSD: A 1.5-way LSD, on the other hand, limits slip during both acceleration and deceleration, but with less locking force when decelerating. It provides engine braking benefits and partial locking in one direction, making it more versatile than a 1-way LSD. While drifters prefer full locking of 2-way LSDs, most racers opt for the balanced control of a 1.5-way LSD.

About the Type-MZ 4 steps Activation:

  1. Cross shaft pushes against cam slot pressure ring.
  2. Pressure ring pushes against clutch plates.
  3. Clutch plates compress the MZ Cone spring.
  4. LSD engaged (locked).
