Description
CUSCO LSD limited slip differentials enhance a vehicle’s traction by reducing individual wheel spin, detecting when a wheel loses grip and redirecting power to the wheel with the most traction. This feature allows for better control during high-speed cornering. The Spec-F differential is equipped with specially designed flat friction clutch plates that provide a milder initial engagement during both ON and OFF acceleration, making it ideal for rear-wheel drive setups in circuit conditions while minimizing power loss in low-horsepower vehicles. The innovative combination of the flat friction disk (FFD) and outer tabbed MZ plates ensures smooth and effective operation when needed most. CUSCO’s revolutionary design also maintains steady oil flow for optimal performance, and the cam specifications are consistent with those of a standard LSD, featuring lower initial torque.

Cam specifications are consistent with a standard LSD but feature lower initial torque.
Comparing 1-Way vs. 1.5-Way Diffs:
One-way LSD: One-way limited slip differentials (LSD) are designed to reduce wheel slip during acceleration only, using ramp clutches to create locking force in one direction. This design allows for easier maneuvers, such as parking, while maximizing traction during acceleration. Ideal for front-wheel-drive and front axles of all-wheel-drive cars, a one-way LSD can improve lap times and responds well to precise throttle inputs. Since it remains inactive during deceleration, it helps maintain better cornering without introducing understeer, making it effective for forward motion.
1.5-way LSD: The 1.5-way limited slip differential limits slip during both acceleration and deceleration, though it does so unevenly in each direction. This design allows for effective engine braking while slowing down, providing some LSD effect in both scenarios. Unlike a 2-way LSD, which locks fully in both directions, a 1.5-way LSD locks completely in one direction and partially in the other. While drifters often prefer 2-way LSDs for their full locking capabilities, most racers opt for the 1.5-way LSD for its balanced performance.
